Designer Jeremy Scott has been know for his outrageous takes on Adidas sneakers, but this time he may have gone too far in the eyes of many. Public backlash for the design of the Adidas Originals Roundhouse Mid “Handcuff” has caused the sneaker company to cancel the upcoming release. Seen by many as sneaker with what resembles slave shackles, they were actually inspired by the 1980’s kids toy My Pet Monster. Adidas is quoted as saying the shoe “Is nothing more than the designer Jeremy Scott’s outrageous and unique take on fashion and has nothing to do with slavery,” but has decided to cancel the release of the suddenly controversial shoe.
