With his distinct vocals and poetic imagery that depicts both the pleasures and the pain of life, Boretta da General is the epitome of an emcee. Boretta is originally from Pittsburg, yet living in Los Angeles for over a decade has enabled him to develop deep relationships with the streets on both coasts. It is his passion to not only lead by example, but to also inspire his fellow hip hop colleagues to be a true master of their craft.
After Boretta da General graduated from Long Beach City College with a degree in Music Engineering, he decided to further pursue the music industry by opening his first studio in Inglewood, California. In 2002 Boretta da General developed Boss Life Entertainment Inc. and teamed up with the beautiful and talented Ms. Asiah. Together they released the single entitled “Shinnin,” which was recognized as an instant hit and caught the attention of Tray Dee from the Eastsiders. Tray Dee aided in having the track released through BMG and featured appearances from A-list artists such as Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Outlaws, and Kokane. Although the song was a bit before it’s time, it effectively shook the music industry awake allowing for bigger things to be had for Boss Life Entertainment.
Seeing as nothing can ever hold a boss down, in 2003 Bosslife Entertainment became heavily involved in the mixtape rotation with the release of the street banger “From the Block.” With Cali Untouchable DJ Warrior as the host, “From the Block” featured artists such as Atlanta Youngbloods, Eastsiders, Guru from Gangstar, Dialated Peoples, Cypress Hill’s B-Real, and many other talented unsigned musical masterminds. Alongside of Daz and Kurupt, Boretta da General was then a featured artist on a Cali Untouchable mixtape hosted by Kam and Ras Kas.
With positive progression always being his focus, in 2005 Boretta da General opened up an exclusive film and production facility in the heart of Los Angeles. This venue not only allows aspiring artists to come and hone their craft but also serves as a catalyst for change. Alongside his fellow MC Great Kam, Boretta da General recently starred in –and aided in producing- the romantic comedy “Budspot.” Additionally he joined Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Slim Thug, Ray J, Eastwood, Youngbloods, Envy, and G-Unit productions on the soundtrack.
Boretta da General’s consistent persistence paid off in 2011 when he met his current investor Rodney P. Hunt and obtained a distribution deal through Warner Bros. Most recently Boretta has developed and released a documentary entitled “Making of the Boss” which gives viewers a peek into a world where “every day is Christmas.” Be on the lookout for future projects in 2012 from Bosslife Entertainment Inc. The sky is the limit!
