Cardi B Becomes The Voice of Alexa for Amazon’s Super Bowl AD

If you’ve been keeping up with the rapper Cardi B, otherwise known as Edgewater resident Belcalis Almanzar, you know she’s been having a pretty good year.

Cardi, 25, who hails from the Bronx, shot to fame in the last few months with her No. 1 hit song “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)”. Her current hits include “Bartier Cardi” and featured spots on the G-Eazy song “No Limit” and “MotorSport” with Migos and Nicki Minaj. Earlier this month, she tied a record held by the Beatles and Ashanti after her first three hit songs made it to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time.

Now, Cardi, who received two Grammy nominations this year, is one of the stars of Amazon’s Super Bowl commercial, teased last week and unveiled Wednesday.

The plot: Alexa, the brand’s personal digital assistant, has “lost” her voice. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is beside himself. Cardi is one of several celebrities to come to the rescue and step in for Alexa. She lends her signature Bronx accent to the commercial alongside Australian actress Rebel Wilson, British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and Welsh actor Anthony Hopkins.
