Cold187um Hustle Hard Feat. Too Short & E – 40

COLD 187um When you think late 80’s early 90’s west coast music, you think Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, 2Pac, Kurupt, but you cannot leave out Ruthless/Death Row Record’s Cold 187um. Cold 187um, born Gregory Farnard Hutchison, is a rapper/producer/musician that began his career as part of the hip-hop group Above the Law. Originally from Dallas, Texas, the artist was discovered by LayLaw, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E.  Under Ruthless Records, Above the Law released their debut album Livin Like Hustlers, produced by Dr. Dre, in 1990. The group contributed greatly to the record label’s success after the departure of Dr. Dre and breakup of N.W.A. In 1999, after the group had parted their own ways with Ruthless Records, Suge Knight recruited the gifted musician to replace Daz Dillinger as head producer for Death Row Records. Cold 187um’s career over the next decade would include collaborations and production credits with countless heavy hitters including 2Pac, E-40, Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg, Eazy-E, NWA, Above the Law, and Cocaine just to name a few. He also is credited with big screen music production work for movie soundtracks including Menace II Society, The Crow, City of Angles and A Low Down Dirty Shame. Fast forward to present day, Cold 187um recently jumped back in the studio with mentor Dr. Dre playing a role on Dre’s long awaited album Compton in 2015. Cold 187um wrote and performed on the track Loose Cannons along with Xzibit and Sly Pyper. Dre’s continued drive and passion for music inspired Cold 187um to start work on his own mega project. Cold 187um got to work on The Black Godfather Volume 1, the first release of a trilogy collection. The album is expected to feature Xzibit, Kurupt, Cocaine, Snoop Dogg, Big Gipp of Goodie Mob, Cee lo Green, Yo-Yo, Sugar Free, E-40, Dr. Dre, WC “Dub C,” AMG, Ras Kass, Ice Cube, Tech N9ne, Money D, Ice-T and Too Short. Cold 187um wanted to make an album about being an OG of the industry. He wants to shine a light on the fact that there is a blurred line between the younger and older generation where both generations continue to have similarities. “As you get older, you still have the same struggles as a 22 year old.” Cold 187um explains. “ You wake up every day, you have to make money, you want to party, you love hot chicks, you love your mother, you hate suckas, you sip your patron, all the same issues and daily life concerns as a youngin’.” The first single off of the highly anticipated The Black Godfather Volume 1 will be Hustle Hard, which will feature E-40 and Too Short.
