Cracking Heads With The Rickey Smiley Morning Show’s Headkrack

Whether you listen to him every morning on your way to work or school or watch him everyday on your TV set, you are bound to be laughing if not crying from his commentary. But there is a whole lot more than just a funny disposition when as it pertains  to Headkrack.

We sat down with our guy to learn a little bit more about how he has become one of the hardest working men in show biz! Check out our chat with “Krack” below!

TRUE: Many people know you as one of the hilarious cast members of The Rickey Smiley Morning show and/or the ridiculously funny guy on the hit Fox TV show Dish Nation; However, they don’t know that you are also a gifted emcee. Can you share with the readers how long you have been involved in the Hip Hop game and to what extent you are playing the game now?

HEADKRACK: I’ve been involved in music my whole life in some form. Whether it was studying the art, beatboxing for others or writing my little raps and battling kids on the school bus I’ve been zoned in since I could talk.

My goal at this point is to drop my own pieces of work for people to appreciate the same way they do the classic works of artist before me. I’m not focused on a record that is geared for the now, it’s more about making material that’s a blueprint for the future.

TRUE: The Wake Up Show recently played a revamped version of your classic song “Track Me Down” can you explain to the readers what motivated you to do the song originally and similarly what made you decide to remake it?

HEADKRACK: “Track me Down” has been a record I’ve had in the stash for a minute now. I actually had the subject matter and the thoughts since the 90’s when my homie Hassan Wilson’s uncle got killed by the police in Concourse Village in the Bronx. It took me all these years to figure out artistically how I wanted to say these things. The original version was a nice effort but it was anger driven with no focus. The newer version was written by me now as a guy who’s been around the globe and witnessed societies ills and can speak on it better.

TRUE:  Is it rough trying to walk that fine line between working in radio/TV and being an artist? Do you ever feel that unrealistic or unfair expectations are being set for you and your group? Why or why not?

HEADKRACK: I never feel like I’m walking a fine line because I pretty much speak my mind at all times. When you are on tv there are some things that just don’t fly so if I conversationally “jump out the window”, the Dish Nation editors protect me. It’s for my own good. As long as I can find money outside of music I can continue to make honest music but don’t get it twisted…. I want to make money but when it comes to my music it’s not my sole motivator.

TRUE: You have become a master at keeping your fingers in all the entertainment pies out here! How have you been able to remain so laser focused for so long?

HEADKRACK: I used to work at Target, and that was a fun ass job. I just like entertainment more and I feel I can impact more people this way. The cool thing is I’m a very flawed person, and I know this, but I feel I’m out here doing Gods work. Not in a traditional sense but I’m doing the best I can to raise the spirits of the people who are exposed to what I do whether it’s tv, radio, or hip hop. There isn’t no one who I will come in contact with that will be worse off from interacting with me…. Unless we battling.

TRUE: What do you hope people are taking away from you as an entertainer?

HEADKRACK: I hope when people listen to Bodega Brovas “LGA” and my solo joint “The Rainmaker” I hope they take away the feeling of hunger. That desire to go out there and kick ass even tho all signs pointed to that you would fail. These joints are like self help albums that play out like Tarantino and Spike Lee Joint.

TRUE: If you could describe your contributions to Hip Hop in one word…what would it be?

HEADKRACK: Purpose

TRUE: Can you please let the readers know how they can keep up with you?

HEADKRACK: I’m in all the hotspots. @headkrack will lead you to me everywhere. @bodegabrovas if you wanna follow my homies. Peace And Love.

We want to thank Headkrack for taking the time out to let us in on the man behind the myth. You can catch Krack on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show and Dish Nation every weekday. Check your local listings for times!
