Diverse Charater’s Sugar-Soaked New Single ‘Candyland’
Trenton, New Jersey native Diverse Character has dropped a new single ‘Candyland’.
The song features an unremarkable looped beat and Diverse Character singing references to all the big name candy brands. The song is a semi-departure from some of the other songs. Not thematically or lyrically, the beat is a bit on the upbeat, poppy side as compared to earlier, darker tracks like ‘To The Moon’.
‘I went to Sweden cause I love them bitches’ fish/ White girls love to dabble with the Twix—hold up/ this issa Jaw Breaker/’
There’s a palpable corniness that streams underneath all his music but he’s not without potential. There are clear Kid Cudi influences that seep throughout his music, i.e. ‘Happy Place’, which he lists on SoundCloud as being a tribute to Cudi. He’s attempting to tap into non-shallow topics. References to popular culture and some video game references, too, it’ll be interesting to see how he develops his voice as an artist, how he will find his remarkability.
