It was estimated last week that Drake’s surprise release, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, would move around half a million units in its first week out. Today the numbers have arrived from HDD, and the initial numbers come extremely close to the 500k mark.
The mixtape-album will land a #1 debut on the Billboard 200, unsurprisingly, after selling 497,602 copies opening week– if we include streaming data, then Drizzy surpassed 500k with 541,585 total. Basically, he went gold in five days.
Drake is starting off 2015 strong, with the highest-selling week so far this year, and his fourth consecutive #1 album. Drake’s gunna be making a million off a mixtape, to quote his YMCMB counterpart Nicki Minaj.
