Elton John Gives Jay-Z Props For Gay Marriage Stance: “I’m Going To Give Him The Biggest Hug”

Music icon Elton John recently spoke on Jay-Z’s open stance toward gay marriage and why he has a big hug waiting for him when they next meet up.

Elton said he respects Young Hov for waving his finger at people who discriminate against the gay community.

In an interview with MSNBC, Sir Elton John spoke on Jay-Z, who eloquently voiced his support for the legalization of gay marriage earlier this year. Elton expressed how important this was, especially coming from Jay-Z. “Jay-Z, who is probably the most respected African American artist, came out and said not only is it wrong to not have gay marriage, but any discrimination in life is wrong. It was an incredibly moving statement,” Elton explained. “I take my hat off to him. I respect him so much for doing that. When I next see him, I’m going to give him the biggest hug.” (Complex)

In May, Jay publicly vouched his support toward gay marriage.

Rapper Jay-Z on Monday threw his support behind President Barack Obama’s stance on legalizing same-sex marriage. The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, said not allowing gay marriage was “holding the country back,” in an interview with CNN’s Poppy Harlow. “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. [It] is no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple,” Jay-Z, a longtime supporter of Obama, added. (My Fox DC)
