EPIK HIGH dropped their highly-anticipated 8th full-length album entitled “SHOEBOX” along with the music video for their lead singles, “SPOILER” and “HAPPEN ENDING”. The album immediately went #1 on iTunes in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam and Taiwan while ranking #7 on the Hip-Hop/R&B charts in the U.S. In Korea, the album’s tracks are dominating most of the top 10 spots on various real-time music charts, proving their immense popularity even after 13 years since debuting.
EPIK HIGH members TABLO, MITHRA JIN and DK TUKUTZ, produced all 12 songs on the album, which is drawing a lot of attention for featuring various Korean artists includingGAEKO of DYNAMIC DUO, JONG WAN KIM from NELL, WON SUN JO of ROLLER COSTER, YUNHA, YANKEE, MYK, JAY PARK as well as TAEYANG of BIGBANG on 2 separate tracks. The music video for the posse hip-hop cut “BORN HATER” and has garnered tons of interest for featuring killer guest verses from the hottest rappers in Korea’s hip-hop scene: BEENZINO, VERBAL JINT, B.I. and BOBBY from YG NEW GROUP – iKON and MINO of WINNER. Just 3 days after its release, the music video has garnered 2 million YouTube views despite its strict 19+ age restriction for explicit content. “SPOILER + HAPPEN ENDING” is also creating a sensation for its music video of young lovers who fall in and out of love and eventually breakup. JISOO KIM, who is a member of YG Entertainment’s new girl group, makes her first on-screen debut as the love interest in the music video which has already gathered almost half a million YouTube views just 12 hours after its release. The album covers various genres of music including hip-hop, R&B, jazz, pop and ballads and is one of the most talked about releases in Korea this year.
EPIK HIGH will hold their first solo concert in five years entitled “PARADE 2014” on November 15 and 16 at Blue Square Samsung Cart Hall. TABLO and MITHRA JIN took to Twitter to say “Thank you for making us do our music once again. I love you”, and “Thank you for trusting and waiting for us. epic is back!!”

Originally an underground hip-hop group, EPIK HIGH formed in 2001, composed of TABLO, MITHRA JIN and DJ TUKUTZ. Upon the success of their third album, “SWAN SONGS”, released in late 2005, EPIK HIGH became one of the most popular hip-hop groups in Korea for their singles “Fly” and “Paris”. They became known for being the only mainstream artist willing to cover controversial issues such as sexual crimes, war, education and religion. XXL stated, “Tablo’s somber storytelling, and double entendre, combined with his partner-in-rhyme Mithra Jin’s compact-yet equally-in depth subject matter, beg for repeated listens.” Over the years they have won “Best Hip-Hop Artist” 7 different times and have toured 4 cities in the US with FAR EAST MOVEMENT. With TABLO joining YG Entertainment in 2011 and releasing a successful solo album “FEVER’S END”, MITHRA JIN and DJ TUKUTZ decided to sign with YG in 2012.
