Tidal is a subscription-based music streaming service that combines lossless audio and high-definition music videos with exclusive content and special features on music. The service has over 48.5 million tracks and 175,000 music videos. Tidal claims to pay the highest percentage of royalties to music artists and songwriters within the music streaming market.
As we all know, Jay-Z created Tidal along with several other artists to “restore the value of music”. in 2016, the future of Tidal was unknown as the number of subscribers were significantly less than its competitors, Spotify and Apple Music. While Tidal is only top 30 in downloads in the music category as of today, it’s the third-highest music service on iOS in terms of revenue.
For a streaming service that was pretty much laughed at from the beginning of it’s release, Tidal is doing pretty well for itself by offering subscribers exclusives and doing major promotions at music festivals. Tidal also recently teamed up with Sprint to offer users a six month free trial.
