I GOT NEXT: Kola Mac

1.     What is Kola Mac bringing to the west coast Hip Hop scene that no one is bringing to the table?

What I’m bringing new table is me, bcuzz there is only 1 Kola Mac. Meaning I’m being myself. I’m not following trends and fads. And if u know anything bout me you would know that my flow, style, look and content matter has not changed one bit throughout the yrs. I mean from Eat or Don’t V1-2 to Choppin Change 1-2. Same Kola. Now there is growth in my craft through all those years, we all get better with time. There’s  just no switch from bac pac to streets to conscious. I’m consistent, Because at the same time, there’s nothing new under the sun. Ur not gonna touch on any topics musically that have not been tackled yet. All u can do is be who u are and master that.

2.     You have worked with so many artists, what can you say you have learned from working with each one?

When your working with another artist in his or her atmosphere you just pick up on there work ethic and how cohesive they move with there team. It helps to pull pieces that might apply to where you lack.

3.     Out of French Montana, YG, Joe Moses and PSmurf who did you like working with over the others?

No work with YG, but I met French and Joe Moses through Waka. We all got in a few joints together and from there I started building with French.

 4.     Describe your sound for those who never heard your music and why do you feel that way?

I’ve gotta real slick talkin, laid back flow. My music caters to the streets, but I feel it’s still universal. And everything checcs out.

 5.     Being from the west its few in between that make it to the next level without that co-sign from Dre, how do you feel about that statement?

I’m not worried bout that statement. It doesn’t exist in my world. But if that’s what the next man defines as the end all be all to success, I won’t knock his hustle.

 6.     How has your road been without it and what do you have coming up to back your statement?

My road is a life journey, not a rap one. Dr. Dre and I are not related. That man and his company don’t owe me nothing, I’m alive and free and my road or journey has brung me to a place where  I’ve gotta place higher value in things like that. Other than that, I’m grindin. Eat Or Don’t Vol.3 on the way!!!

 7.     Your latest release Eat or Don’t Vol 2 has made some movement, what did you do different from Vol 1 to Vol 2 and if you had to tell someone what direction the mixtape is what would you say?

My Eat Or Don’t volumes are more mixtape oriented, meaning I flip other current record that are out at the time along with original material. My Choppin Change series are more albums structured and available for sale as well. But EODV3 might just have all originals.

8.     How do you feel about the movement the west coast has with the diversity in music?

It’s dope. I fuck with young blacks gettin money and carvin there own lane. Regardless if you feelin all the new music out West, or if you still bias, you gotta respect niggas for knock’n doors down and makin people come to them. That’s influence, you gotta fuck with it. I salute that.

9.     If someone said Why Kola Mac what would you say?

Why eat, sleep or shit? Because YOU NEED THAT!!! 1luv, shout out to True-Mag, Frisco and West La as a whole. EODV3 is on the way.
