SMASH HIT “FANCY” EXPLODES TO #1 ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100 AS SINGLE SALES, STREAMS & AIRPLAY CONTINUE TO SKYROCKET; IGGY CONTROLS THE TOP TWO SINGLES IN THE COUNTRY AS HER FEATURE ON ARIANA GRANDE’S “PROBLEM” HITS #2 ON THE HOT 100

DEBUT ALBUM “THE NEW CLASSIC” JUMPS BACK INTO THE TOP 10 ON THE BILLBOARD 200

Def Jam Recordings artist Iggy Azalea is the clear frontrunner in 2014’s “Song Of The Summer” race, as her smash hit “Fancy” featuring Charile XCX explodes to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the strength of massive airplay numbers, digital track sales, and streaming. Iggy is the Greater Gainer in airplay this week with over 104 million in audience, “Fancy” digital sales spike to over 335,000 units this week (1.5 million units to date), and Iggy is #1 on the streaming charts for the second week in a row with over 13 million.

Iggy’s chart dominance doesn’t stop there: her feature on Ariana Grande’s explosive single “Problem” jumps to #2 on the Hot 100 this week, giving Iggy the two biggest songs in the country. The two performed a medley of their smashes on last week’s Billboard Awards. With the massive buzz around Iggy Azalea continuing to build, her debut album THE NEW CLASSIC jumps back inside the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart, after making its debut at #3 a month ago.

“Iggy’s success has been hard fought and well earned,” said Def Jam Recordings CEO Steve Bartels. “The seismic momentum of this record may have caught some by surprise, but years of incredibly focused, hard work from Iggy and her team went into this moment. For the past twelve months, the team here at Def Jam has championed Iggy Azalea, worked on her development as an artist, and spread the word…loudly. The potential for growth with this song, this album, and this artist is still immeasurable. We believe Iggy Azalea is a huge star, with tremendous talent, and it’s gratifying to see the world take notice.”

On Sunday, the New York Daily News anointed Iggy as the Queen of 2014’s “Song Of The Summer. “Every summer has its song. This year’s belongs to…Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea,” wrote the News’ Jim Farber. “She’s the only star to appear on two hits that have what every summer song needs — the attitude, sex appeal and catchiness to serenade everyone’s summer parties and flings…That one-two punch has some observers referring to Azalea as this year’s Pharrell.”
