J. Cole is living proof of the mantra: beating the odds. In overcoming those obstacles, along with staying true and transparent in the music, he’s attained the kind of success that even the biggest of superstars strive for. As a case in point, check out the top of the Billboard 200 album chart.
For the third time in his career, Cole has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard top 200 with his latest album,2014 Forest Hills Drive. Trumping Taylor Swift’s 1989 with 371,000 copies sold its first week, the LP is now the highest selling first week sales of any hip-hop album to come out this year. Plus, adding to the feat, Cole earned another milestone for setting the Spotify record for most week album streams.
