J. Cole’s ‘K.O.D.’ Album Debuts No. 1 on Billboard

J. Cole takes the top spot on Billboard. The Dreamville MC’s fifth studio album, K.O.D., debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Released earlier this month, the project moved 397,000 equivalent album units (215,000 of that sum from streaming) opening week, according to Nielsen Music. That total is now the biggest selling week for an album in 2018, surpassing Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods, which bowed at No. 1 with 293,000 units back in February.

K.O.D. becomes Cole World’s fifth consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It follows 4 Your Eyez Only (2016), 2014 Forest Hills Drive (2014), Born Sinner (2013), and Cole World: The Sideline Story (2011). K.O.D. produced the third-largest streaming week for an album ever with 322.7 million first-week on-demand audio streams. Only Drake’s More Life (384.8 million, 2017) and Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. (340.6 million, 2017) produced more.
