J. Cole’s ‘KOD’ Doing DAMAGE By Breaking Apple Music & Spotify First Day Stream Record

As music lovers currently digest J. Cole’s newly released K.O.D. album, the project is already setting new marks on various streaming platforms. After the title track set a new opening day record, the album has now broken both Apple Music and Spotify’s first-day streaming record. The Verge reports that K.O.D. was streamed 64.5 million times on its first day in the U.S. on Apple Music. It surpasses the previous record holder, Drake’s VIEWS, by nearly 1 million streams. Currently, seven out of the top 10 most streamed songs in a 24-hour period on Apple Music are now from K.O.D.

Spotify U.S. also announced on Monday (Apr. 23) that Cole World’s new studio LP was streamed 36.6 million times in the first 24 hours, also breaking the record for most first-day streams in the U.S. for an album.
