The final numbers are in. After projections and early reports, Lil’ Wayne’s new album Tha Carter V debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Boasting guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Travi$ Scott and Ashanti, C5 moved 480,000 equivalent album units (141k in traditional sales) opening week confirms Nielsen Music. The album only trails Drake’s Scorpion and Travis Scott’s Astroworld for the biggest sales week in 2018.
C5 makes history producing the second-biggest streaming week ever for an album, collecting 433 million on-demand audio streams for the album’s tracks in its debut frame. Only Drake’s Scorpion has been streamed more. Tha Carter V is Lil Wayne’s fourth No. 1 album following 2011’s Tha Carter IV, 2010’s I Am Not a Human Being and 2008’s Tha Carter III.
