The market value of Latino rappers seems to be increasing these days. The Spanish remix phenomenon has reached a fever pitch as these artist versions are gaining more popularity than the originals in Latin America. As Hiphop music evolves in other languages so must the business practices that accompany the art. Which is why Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has a newly developed Latin division to discover, break and market new talent emerging from the Spanish speaking Hiphop world. Of course being the trendsetter and talent scout that Jigga is known to be, being associated or involved with him in any way is going to skyrocket careers and put artists on the map. Headed by Dominican Bachata mega star Romeo Santos, the first artist to be signed to the Latin division is Mozart La Para. With an established reputation as a battle MC at home in the Dominican Republic and abroad, Mozart gained a reputation throughout Latin America as force to be reckoned with. With a variety of styles in his catalogue from Boom Bap, Dembow, Reggaeton and Trap, he has proven to have the versatility to maintain in this changing game. Enough so to have caught the attention of one of the most important people in not only the rap game, but for music in general…Maybe it’s time for some Spanish lessons!
