@NickiMinaj #News – Nicki Minaj: Rapper, former “American Idol” judge and soon-to-be film actress now holds another title: the first rapper to ever appear on the cover of Marie Claire.
For the interview, Minaj opened up to Marie Claire about men and her judging gig on “American Idol.” The social media queen called upon her fans – or “Barbz” – for questions via Twitter, where she has more than 16 million followers. Nicki received over 20,000 questions, and set out to answer as many as possible.
Nicki announced she was leaving the “Idol” judging panel in May this year. Although the performer was only on the show for one season, she considers her experience valuable. “The perception that people had of me completely changed because there are no cue cards, there’s no script, it wasn’t be performing a song,” she said. “It was, ‘Let’s see you real personality.’ My core is a genuine human being who roots for other people. I didn’t want to blow smoke up their ass. I wanted every contestant to leave with something that they could remember.”
Being a part of “Idol” led to her casting in “The Other Woman,” which could potentially launch a film career. In the film Nicki will play an assistant to a lawyer portrayed by Cameron Diaz. However, the ambitious star wants to release at least three more music albums before devoting more time to acting.
“If I can do that, I’ll feel complete,” Nicki said. “One day, when I start getting a couple gray hairs, maybe it will all be only acting. I just never know… I’ve kind of become the poster child for doing the things that no one expects.”
The YMCMB rapper also spoke candidly about relationships and offered tips to young women.“Don’t chase any man,” she advised. “Put your school first. Men love independent women. You don’t have to be a bitch, but there’s nothing wrong with it at times. And: Men are kids at heart. They want to be nourished and pet like a dog.” Nicki also talked about preparing herself for motherhood in the future.
Behind the provocative alter egos and wardrobes, Nicki shows that she’s still very down-to-earth.
