Recap of BET Weekend: Day 2, Part 1

Saturday was a big day for BET’s annual weekend long experience, with many big events going down. The biggest attraction, the concert inside Staples Center, was jam-packed with music superstars performing one after another. The show was opened by Oakland’s own Kamaiyah, followed by rap’s native rockstar Playboi Carti. After Carti, Nipsey Hussle and Lil Pump performed, bringing even more energy to the arena. The night was closed out by A$AP Ferg, Meek Mill, and Rae Sremmurd. The most memorable moment of the night was brought to us by Meek, who came out in a hoodie with the late XXXTentacion on the front, and Jimmy Wopo (who was also shot and killed the same day as X) on the back. Meek spoke about gun violence and encouraging the youth to stop killing each other in the streets, and put that energy into something more positive and productive in their communities. Definitely a night to remember, and keep checking back in to True Magazine to see more from Saturday of the BET Experience!
