Safaree claims he has not been paid for his work on Nicki Minaj’s 2014 album, The Pinkprint. Nicki’s ex-boyfriend shares his frustrations with the world in a social media post, which shows him looking at a double platinum plaque for the LP.
“It’s crazy you can come somewhere and see your work, and know that you ain’t get a damn thing for it,” Safaree says in the video. “Crooked ass niggas.”
Safaree recently opened up about his lack of payment from Nicki in an interview with Wendy Williams on her talk show The Wendy Williams Show. The reality star said he was part of The Pinkprint’s creative process up until the last month when he and Nicki’s relationship began to sour. Safaree said he simply wants compensation for his work.
“It’s only fair,” he told Williams. “Suppose you went and you worked on the Wendy show for a good eight [or] nine months, and then at the end of the nine months, the show blows up.”
During the conversation with Williams, Safaree also spoke about how involved he was in Nicki’s work. Safaree did not specifically state that he wrote anything for her, but he did say he played in a major role in the creative process.
“As far as that whole process goes, it was a collaborative process,” he said. “She doesn’t sit there and do absolutely nothing, but I definitely was a helping force in everything that had to do with creating music.”
