Nineteen year old Baltimore native singer/songwriter Sonne Riley has had more than his share of trials and tribulations so it is no wonder that he feels at home covering life topics like depression and suicide. His mother, who suffers from bi-polar disorder, was unable to cope with the duties of motherhood much of the time and Sonne dealt with everything from her drug problem to homelessness as a result.
His new video for “Want Love” explores the topic saliently without soap boxing, while the raw emotion of his vocals punctuates the message in just the right way.
That is not to say though that all of Sonne’s music was meant to spin at a pity party party. He just dropped a banger with YBS Skola called “I Just Wanna” on which they make it clear to check your feelings at the door that appears on Skola’s “No Pen Just Paper Reloaded” project, which drops tonight on My Mixtapez.
