T.I. Speaks On Working With Kanye West & Gucci Mane’s Trap Music Debate

T.I. currently has “Certified” single with R&B singer Jacquees out right now, plus a music video that just released over the weekend. The Grand Hustle CEO/rapper/actor stopped by HOT 97 on Tuesday (May 1) for some conversation with the radio show’s morning crew. One of the key topics the group discussed was T.I.’s relationship with Kanye West and the two recording “Ye vs. the People.”

Tip reveals the song came together towards the end of a 4-hour discussion with Kanye, a meeting that took place after the Atlanta rapper caught wind of West’s recent comments online. After reaching out to ‘Ye’s team, he was invited to Yeezy’s Calabasas office for a sit down. T.I. attributes Kanye being far removed from the social issues many people face day-to-day being the reason behind his controversial tweets and support of Donald Trump and Candace Owens. The ATLien would detail what their long conversation covered and Kanye being 100% serious about running for U.S. President in 2024.

Another recent subject T.I. would touch on is Gucci Mane’s claim that he created trap music. “The words trap and music have never been put together to form a phrase before I did it in 2003. So now with that bit of information, you gon and say what you wanna say,” says the Hustle Gang veteran at the 47:30 mark, when asked by Ebro Darden.

Tip would also touch on giving back to the commnuity, protesting and boycotting Houston’s restaurant, Killer Mike’s views on gun control and more. Watch the full 49-minute interview below.
