Teyana Taylor Was Blindsided By Lack Of Promo For Her Album “K.T.S.E.”

Fresh off the G.O.O.D. Music Month-long takeover, Teyana Taylor went on Hot 97 to talk to Ebro about the rollout of the five albums. Starting with Pusha T’s much talked about DAYTONA, and ending with Taylor’s K.T.S.E., G.O.O.D. Music gave us a new album every week, with no lead singles or videos to promote them.

Taylor spoke to Ebro about her confusion regarding the rollout, saying that she was unaware of the 5 albums in a row until the very last meeting that was had between her and the rest of G.O.O.D. Music. Saying “At first I didn’t really know that it was going to be the five album thing until we had like our last meeting and we were talking about the albums”, Taylor appeared to be blindsided about the concept of the roll out. She also stated that she was nervous about the commercial success of the album, as she was uncomfortable being in the same roll out as legends who don’t necessarily need the promo to sell well.

She continued, saying “I was kinda just going with the flow. At the same time, I just wanted music out. I didn’t care how that shit had to happen. Whether it was a separate rollout, whether it was five albums. I didn’t know like ahead of time that it wouldn’t be any singles or visuals. I didn’t know none of that. I knew it was going to be a five album thing and they wanted mine to be last, he wanted my to be the biggest”.

Despite the initial release delay, lack of attention, and commercial success K.T.S.E. suffered from (selling a disappointing 23,000 units), Taylor delivered one of the better RnB albums of 2018 so far. Watch the interview below!
