The Weeknd’s ‘My Dear Melancholy,’ Debuts No. 1 on Billboard

The Weeknd takes the top spot this week, as his My Dear Melancholy, EP debuts No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. A surprise project that dropped earlier this month, the six-track offering moved 169,000 equivalent album units opening week according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 68,000 were traditional album sales and 94,000 units attributed to streaming (SEA). My Dear Melancholy, becomes the XO crooner’s third consecutive No. 1 project on Billboard, following 2016’s STARBOY and 2015’s Beauty Behind the Madness.

Originally released digitally, physical copies of the project will be available on April 13. The lead track, “Call Out My Name,” also debuts at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart this week.
