TRUE Magazine I GOT NEXT: JG JustDippin (Interview)

Where did you get the name JG JustDippin?

JG is actually my initials. justDippin came from my old instagram page. It seemed like every time I bumped into one of my followers at the grocery store or school they would call me justDippin because they didn’t know my real name. I liked it and finally decided to just run with it.

I read that you were producing music as well which love was first and how do you separate yourself when working with other artists from being the producer to being the artists?

Producing came first I didn’t write my first verse till 9th grade. I was always into music and creating sounds and recording with different instruments so producing just kinda fell into my lap as I got older. Being the producer always makes me feel like I’m conducting an orchestra and the rapper is one of the many instruments used to make the song; it’s hard to see it that way from the rapper’s perspective because the producer is the one bringing color to the canvas with all the sounds and creativity.

Your song Rich & Famous is a dope track what inspired you to writing it and how did you know Rich Kid would be a good fit for it?

What inspired me is just real life events and situations that I’ve gone through recently or was in at the moment that I wrote it. I knew RICH THE KID would be a good fit because he raps about a lot of the same stuff. He dabbin’ so I had to add his flavor to the mix. Shout out RTK.

What do you want people to take from the single after listening to it?

Even average MFs like me can really start out the gutter and grind till you chillin in a suite at the W.  I wanna motivate my peoples to really get out the and hustle and grind hard no matter what you do. Always put your heart into it.

In your lyrics on Rich & Famous you talk about the luxury things in life and a lifestyle that everyone in the music biz wants to live. How do you plan on keeping up that expensive lifestyle, I seen you have a clothing line jumping off and what gave you the idea for that?

Life’s good just work hard save money and invest. I’ve invested in a few endeavors including real estate and will hopefully continue to receive checks in the mail for my albums. Our clothing line has been real successful this year we are going to continue to build and break barriers.

Your latest projects Rich & Famous ft. Rich Kid, No Time ft. Rossi, W.Y.N. (What You Need) ft. Kool John & Skipper and Juice ft. Young Retro all go and is unique it their own ways. How do you pick who to work with and what gives you inspiration to write about those subjects?

It’s all based on the feel of the beat. The voice and style has to match and that’s really the basis for my creations. Writing about the subjects is just the energy reflection off each other and the beat; it just comes naturally.

Why Hip Hop?

Expression of self. I can express myself through my production and make angry music if i’m feeling angry, or exciting music if i’m thrilled. Hip Hop allows me to do both; Write rhymes and control the direction of the song with the power behind the keys.

RICH x FAMOUS
