TRUE Magazine sits with Roberto

1.  How would you describe your family and childhood in Miami?

My family is a diverse group My dad lived in the Bahamas and is Haitian so I group up with My mom and brothers. My older brothers and cousin did there best to keep me out the streets. Miami was wild for me growing up I was raised in Opolocka,fl which is north of Miami and we Move to Carol City A few miles farther north and thats when i really got a taste of the streets.

 

 2.  What were your favorite albums growing up?

There are a few albums that just impacted me in a major way. First I have to start with Trick Daddy book of thugs Verse AK Chapter 47. Jay Z Reasonable Doubt, Tupac all eyes on me , Jadakiss kiss the game goodbye. Rick Ross port of Miami Wyclef ecleftic, Damion Marley welcome to jamrock,Cameron Purple Hayes.

 

3.  You were the youngest member of the drum core.  Can you tell me what that was like?  

The drum core was a breeze I have always been mature so i was always able to carry myself well around older people. I learn fast so i caught on quick and took my love for music and allowed it to motivate me to do well in the drum core.

 

 4.  When did you realize you wanted to make music your full-time job?

I have been blessed enough to do a lot of things My dad has his own business so as a youth i worked for him in the Bahamas. I started my first job in the US at 15 and started hustling at the same time. Me and my core friends always wrote music from elementary school. We would freestyle and write countless tracks. I opened a few small businesses but my heart was always with music so about a two years ago i said I would just chase it.

 

5.  How do you feel about the current state of Florida Hip Hop?

I feel great about the current state of Florida hip hop you have the up and coming but establish artist like Brisco, Ice berg, Space ghost, and then you got cats breaking the seems like Myself , Will, Alyric, IG AND Merci Largo Luchi. There is a lot of talented producers her my personal favorite is @producerhitman. Its as Vibrant as the Nightlife there are a lot of DJS breaking records to.

 

6.  How do you feel you stand out musically?

Every rapper is an artist and were painting these pictures. I will stand out because of the type picture i paint. I don’t want to paint picture you look at and say thats nice and forget it. I want to paint pictures that will be admire forever. I want my lyrics to move my listeners physically and mentally.

 

7.  What do you enjoy doing when you have down time?

I use to hoop so I am a basketball fan I love watching the heat. I’m a father so spending time with my family and kids is priceless outside of that i write when im not making moves.

 

8.  Miami is known for its night life.  Where are the best spots to party?

Sunday club Liv, Monday King Of Diamonds, Tuesday and Wednesday, I do the strip clubs Coco’s Rolex, The Office, you take your pick Thursday I would say Cafe Iguanas Friday and Saturday any were on the strip or the Hard Rock in Hollywood Fl the party never stop.

 

9.  What direction are you going to take your latest mixtape Late Departure?

Late departure is a group effort with Me and Will another Member of the AMD family so we ironing out how we plan to go about it but the actual next projects for me is the seventh day and Vice city Reloaded. On the seventh day i will jack 7 beats no hooks and go crazy. On Vice city reloaded I want to just expand on the original so i can reach more people.

 

10.  Can you tell me about AMD records and its goals for the future?

AMD Records was founded like a crew between me and close friends all artist Will, Poppie No Sox, IG and in like 2008 we started functioning as a business. Right now were under construction but there is one common goal. Which is to make timeless classic music.Robert!
