Bay Area Hip-Hop Group Dope City Saints Say “Whatup World”

Conscious Oakland rap collective Dope City Saints are a Hip-Hop Tour De Force. The group’s intelligence, passion, and lyrical content easily sums up what they are about. Core members MC Wordup, Kasi RocsWell, and Steve Shankle bring authenticity, creativity and appreciation for the craft back to the forefront of artistry and they perfectly proof that with their hit single, “Whatup World”, featuring Hieroglyphics member Pep Love.

“Whatup World” was written on March 11, 2011 in light of the devastating events of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The video was shot in Oahu, Hawaii.

Dope City Saints’ intense energy, laid back flow and undeniable flair capture the group’s listeners instantly. Compared to the legendary and iconic Hip-Hop group The Pharcyde, the California based rap trio have an international appeal and their music ascends above regional boundaries. MC Wordup, Kasi RocsWell, and Steve Shankle honed a refreshing style that combines street tales with wisdom and food for thought.

Hip-Hop artists are in the unique position to influence others with their mere words alone. Now that’s power and Dope City Saints use it the right way! Their grind is relentless and their vision is crystal. Dope City Saints have had a love for rhyming since their days in High
