Detroit star Danny Brown held a Twitter Q&A yesterday (July 8) and announced, among other things, that he has a new album on the way. Kickstarter’s Director of Music Meredith Graves asked him why he had become the most entertaining tweeter during the Q&A, and he replied with “I gotta new album coming!!!!!!!!”. While he also said he does not know when it drops and that it won’t be anytime soon, he said he hopes to work with Alchemist on the new project. Alchemist saw the tweet, and said he hopes to work with him too. That looks like an essential guaranteed collaboration on at least one song between the two, something to be very excited for.
In another tweet (now deleted) a twitter user asked Brown what the most important thing he learned while making his 2016 album “Atrocity Exhibition”, and Brown replied “Never spend 70k on samples for an album that no one buys cause you will be in debt.”. While Atrocity Exhibition has been hailed by critics as one of the best albums of the 2010’s (some even calling it a classic), the sales numbers on the album have been disappointing to say the least. In its first week, AE sold 7,000 album equivalents with 3 million streams, debuting at #77 on Billboard’s Top 200. Check out some more highlights from the Q&A below!
