Eminem’s Surprise “Kamikaze” Album Projected To Outpace Sales Predictions
When Eminem dropped an album out of nowhere this past Friday, it took the rap world by storm. With multiple (and deep) dialogues stemming from the release, it became another wild storyline for hip hop in 2018. Originally projected to sell 200k album unit equivalents, Em has since blown those numbers out of the water. He is now expected to sell 360k, which would make “Kamikaze” the 5th highest selling album of 2018, putting him just behind some of the biggest faces in hip hop. Drake’s Scorpion takes 1st, followed by Travis Scott’s (very controversial) Astroworld, Post Malone’s beerbongs and bentleys, and J. Cole’s KOD.
Kamikaze is shaping to be one of the most talked about albums from this group though, as multiple beefs have stemmed from it. Em took aim at Machine Gun Kelly on the album, which prompted a diss track and video from Kelly, as well as Joe Budden taking offense to something said by Em, which Budden made the topic of the latest episode of his podcast.
Despite all of the aim taken at Marshall because of the content on Kamikaze, it will sit (comfortably) at the top of this week’s Billboard charts, which makes it Em’s 9th straight album to debut at #1.
