Up-n-coming rapper Etoc is next to blow. Check out the Q&A session

Hello Etoc! Before we talk about your music, let us know which city you rep?

I am originally from Providence, RI but now live in Orlando, FL. I have done all of my music since moving down to Orlando.

What was the moment that you knew music was your dream?

After my cousin played me Nas and Wu-Tang when I was like 10 years old I fully dived into hip hop. It caught me immediately and allowed me to dive into thought while zoning out listening. Since then hip hop has been an everyday part of my life. Artists have been a voice to speak to me through my ups and downs.

How did the environment you grew up in influence your music?

All of my songs are based off true events. Whether it’s a party song about turning up with the boys, a love/relationship song, or about battling personal demons. All of my songs are inspired through true events. My environment inspired me to write about my experiences.

Where do you get your influences from when crafting music in general?

Just everyday life. Whatever thoughts and emotions I’m feeling in that moment, whatever experiences I’m having. I write everyday through out the day.

What was the first Hip-Hop song you ever heard and what did you love about it?

The first hip hop song I heard was “Lose Yourself” by Eminem when I was about 8 years old. I loved his play on words, the energy he brought, and the inspiration it brought me.

So Etoc is your rap moniker, how did you come up with that name?

It’s a play on my last name.

For those who are not familiar with you yet, how would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as genuine expression of emotion. I create songs from turn up trap, to love r&b. I want my fans to never know what to expect when I drop a song, and want to create music for all moods and all situations. I continue to push the boundaries of hip hop.

What would you say sets you apart from other up-n-coming rappers or groups in the game at the moment?

My passion about music. I am writing everyday and always working on my craft. My wordplay and storytelling ability are inspired by my major influences in hip hop such as J.Cole, Logic, Nas, Eminem, and Wu-Tang. I put my heart and soul into every song I create. I want to make music that anyone can enjoy and relate to. Every song brings a different sort of emotion to it, and can be enjoyed in different atmospheres. You never know what you’re going to get when I drop a track.

What is your label situation looking like?

I am unsigned and releasing music through my indie label Music of Etoc.

Do you have a concept for your career, something like a master plan?

I will be dropping music on a consistent basis. What sort of vibe or content, who knows. I don’t know, whatever I feel in the moment I will create.

What can we expect from you for the rest of 2018 and in the coming years?

I look forward to being a part of my fans everyday life. Provide an escape for whatever mood they are in. Inspire them, make them think, and of course have a dope time and turn up.

Anything else you would like to talk about?

I want to continue to make songs from the heart and soul. Whatever inspires me on a daily basis, whatever emotions I feel, I will write about it. I will continue to bend genres and push the borders of hip hop. I just want to make relatable music that people can listen to and escape from reality with.
