Never heard of Chief Keef? I bet you have heard of the club banger “I don’t like.” If you haven’t, you will right now. Chief Keef is a 16 year old mid-west rapper from Chicago blazin the streets with his latest mixtape “Back From The Dead” and the song we all know and love “I don’t like.” Many artists have remixed his hit into their own version. Artists such as Chris Brown, Game, Jadakiss, and Kanye West have added their own lyris to Keef’s beat and hook.
My personal favorite songs off his mixtape is “Everyday,” “Trust None,” featuring Johnny Maycash, and “3Hunna (remix)” which features Soulja Boy.
These songs and especially this mixtape caught my attention not just because of the beats and the hooks but because he is a young man putting much passion into something positive and who instead, can be an inspiration to young rappers who are trying to make it in the rap game. Keef was recently signed to interscope records. In an interview with MTV, T.I. said that Chief Keef is a voice to ‘Youth in America.’ Instead of turning to the streets, Keef turned to the studio to produce hits.
I’m not saying that Keef should be an inspiration to every young black male, but for those trying to get in the studio and do something that they love to do, should look at him as a stimulus to do positive things.
