Tyga Goes Gold With “Taste”

Tyga has another plaque to add to his collection. His summer hit “Taste” featuring Offset of the Migos just hit 500,000 sales equivalents, which gives it RIAA Gold status in the U.S. This may just be the beginning for the track’s success, as it has only gotten bigger the farther we get into the summer, and with over a month and a half left it may even see platinum status soon.

This is a big comeback for Tyga, as his career saw a nose dive in the last few years. “Kyoto”, his most recent release, was slammed by critics (for more than the weird cover art), trashing it at every chance they had. His 2015 effort “The Gold Album” only sold 2,000 copies first week, which was one of the worst selling hip hop albums of the year. “Taste” going gold now gives Tyga proof that he can still make a hit, and to capitalize on this career revival.
