The 36-year-old, real name LaRon James, pleaded guilty in federal court in Newark in August to weapon possession by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon on an aircraft, according to court documents.
Back in early March, the Harlem native arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport for a flight to San Francisco. During a bag check screening, a TSA agent found a .38-caliber handgun. After the discovery was made, Santana left the checkpoint area and exited the airport leaving behind his bag that contained the handgun, oxycodone pills, his New York State driver’s license and two other bags. Juelz would later surrender himself to authorities two days later.
Santana, a convicted felon, made a plea agreement with federal prosecutors where he would face between two and five years in prison. Currently there’s no date as to when The Diplomats star will have to surrender. Juelz, who stars in the new season of VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop NY, revealed in the latest episode that he believed he’d get 27 to 37 months for the crime. The rapper will be under supervised release for 12 months after he’s completed his time in prison.
