In the last few years, Common has strayed from rapping and moved more towards the entertainment business. Starring in things like 2014’s Oscar winning movie Selma, and 2016’s Suicide Squad, Common has begun to add his name to the list of rappers who have made a successful transition from music to show business. This streak continued this morning, as it was announced that he has partnered with TV and film production company Lionsgate.
The deal entails that Common will create and produce projects for the company, while also giving him complete creative freedom in the creation of these projects. While there has been no timetable announced for the deal or how long he will be under contract, be on the look out for Common’s ventures into TV content creation.
